Job Description

The School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Waterloo invites applications for sessional instructors.  We require instructors for multiple courses which could be combined for an equivalent to a full-time workload. Instructors interested in part time employment are also encouraged to apply. The positions for sessional instructors commence May 1 or September 1, 2022. The School requires candidates who can teach in one or more of the following disciplines: finance, data analytics and organizational behaviour.  Candidates interested in teaching in the finance discipline should be knowledgeable and have practical experience in the finance industry and/or financial services or government. Ideal candidates should have knowledge and/or experience in dealing with the broad areas of financial “big data”, be able to teach areas such as managerial finance, investments, fixed income, derivatives, and global financial markets, and instill data principles to these or related areas of finance in class. Duties include teaching and course coordination. The candidate may also teach in our Computing and Financial Management program, a joint program between the School of Accounting and Finance and the David Cheriton School of Computer Science.  The candidate will also assist with extra-curricular activities, and with outreach activities to alumni and industry.

A graduate or degree in accounting, finance, management, organizational behaviour, computer science/data analytics or mathematics/engineering is desirable. While not required, previous teaching experience in a post-secondary institution and relevant industry experience are all assets.
