Faculty Position in Emerging
Technologies
The School of Accounting and
Finance, in the Faculty of Arts, at the University of Waterloo invites
applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Emerging Technologies. In the case of an exceptional candidate, appointment as
Associate or Full Professor with tenure may be considered.
Although recent Ph.D. graduates
will be considered, preference will be given to experienced candidates. This
search complements other recruitment the School is currently engaged in for
positions in Performance Management (Management Accounting) and Sustainable Corporate Accounting or Finance.
Candidates must have, or be
nearing completion of, a doctoral degree in accounting, finance, business, information
systems, or a related field by the start date of the appointment. The
successful candidate is expected to continue conducting high-quality research
targeting top-tier journals on topics of interest to accounting, finance, and/or
information systems scholars.
While not required, preference will be
given to candidates with outstanding
research capabilities that align with current faculty interests (e.g.,
analytics, cybersecurity, blockchain, algorithmic management). The successful
candidate will also be responsible for teaching, coordinating, and designing
courses within the school related to data analytics, emerging technologies, and
accounting information systems. Candidates who can demonstrate thought
leadership and are interested in engaging in executive education or pedagogical
innovation will be considered positively. While not required, a professional designation in accounting or finance would also be an asset.
UW’s School of Accounting and

The expected
start date for the position
is July 1, 2023. Starting
compensation in the range of $215,000.00
to $270,000.00 is anticipated, based
on qualifications and experience. Negotiations beyond this range
may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
